Technis gets your buildings ready for heating season.

New hardware, new algorithm: Technis’s next-generation energy optimisation arrives in time for winter

‍

At Technis, our vision is simple: to make every physical space, whether retail, real estate, industrial or public, measured, understood and managed at the speed of digital. That’s the thinking behind the next step for our Energy Performance solution.

‍

Heating season has started in Switzerland. And with it comes the same sequence as every year: heating curves set once and for all at the start of the season, overheating that nobody notices, piecemeal adjustments made whenever tenant complaints come in, and in spring, an energy bill everyone discusses but nobody can explain.

‍

The problem is almost never the building. It’s that the building delivers energy without knowing what it will actually need over the next six hours.

‍

This autumn, we’re launching the next generation of our heating optimisation. It moves forward on two fronts at once: a new Technis E-NNO Box V3, designed for durability and robustness, and an algorithm that now factors in the actual temperature measured on each floor, wherever the building is fitted with sensors.

‍

The next generation of Technis optimisation

Technis heating optimisation is built on a simple principle: dynamically controlling the flow temperature of the heating circuit, so the system only delivers the energy that’s actually needed. For this to work across a whole portfolio, two things are required: equipment that lasts, and a model that knows exactly how far it can go. This autumn, both are moving forward.

‍

The hardware: Technis E-NNO Box V3

The Technis E-NNO Box is the device that interfaces with the boiler room. What sets the V3 apart from previous generations comes down to two words: durability and robustness. It’s built to last, season after season. It also measures more precisely, which means it optimises more precisely.

‍

The V3 is a complete redesign, from engineering and wiring to commissioning. The first V3 units were installed a few weeks ago. The main improvements:

  • Hardware designed for durability and robustness, built to perform season after season
  • More precise measurement of how the system behaves, and therefore more precise optimisation
  • Simplified, documented onboarding: commissioning is no longer limited to a handful of specialists

‍

The algorithm: actual temperature enters the equation

‍

Today, our algorithm combines a thermal model of the building, covering the envelope’s characteristics and orientation and the heat generator’s capacity, with 6-hour weather forecasts. This lets it anticipate solar gains and lower the flow temperature accordingly. Savings are measured against a baseline period, following the IPMVP protocol.

‍

This model works. But it has one blind spot: what’s actually happening inside the building. Floor temperatures simply weren’t part of the equation.

‍

The new version changes that. Wherever the building is fitted with sensors, the algorithm factors in the actual temperature measured on each floor. As a result, it can push optimisation further while guaranteeing tenant comfort.

‍

What this brings:

  • An additional 8–12% in savings on average for buildings fitted with sensors, on top of the savings already achieved
  • Optimisation that adapts to how the building actually behaves, not how it’s supposed to behave
  • Higher performance, with no compromise on tenant comfort
  • Savings that are still certified using the IPMVP methodology: measured, not just claimed

‍

A few important points

The optimisation doesn’t apply to every building in a portfolio, because it all depends on each building’s heating configuration. We say so upfront, before any commitment, and every deployment starts with an eligibility assessment.

‍

The sensor-based version requires installing sensors, around three for a typical building, which is a marginal cost compared with the overall project.

‍

→ The first Technis E-NNO Box V3 units are available for installation now.

‍

→ The new algorithm will roll out gradually over this heating season, with priority given to buildings already equipped. Contact your CSM to assess your buildings’ eligibility.

‍

Why it matters

‍

Organisations that manage their real estate portfolios well have one thing in common: they act on their consumption before the bill arrives, not after.

‍

The context demands it. Geneva’s IDC, the MoPEC rules on boilers, GRESB cycles and investor pressure on decarbonisation pathways all mean that energy decisions today must rest on data that holds up in front of an auditor.

‍

That’s exactly the chain we own from end to end. We build the data with our own sensors, we certify it building by building under IPMVP, and we act on it with the Technis E-NNO Box. We never replace the BMS; we work on top of it.

‍

To date, we’ve equipped more than 1,000 buildings in Switzerland and delivered −11.5% in certified heating savings. That’s around CHF 1,500 per building per year, underperforming buildings included.

‍

The new hardware brings the durability and robustness needed to perform over the long term. The new algorithm increases the yield of every building deployed. Together, they determine what your buildings will consume this winter.

‍

Autumn 2026 is one more step in that direction.
