$21M raised, 2 acquisitions, 2,100 buildings: Wiktor Bourée's journey as Technis CEO, on Real Insiders

Our founder and CEO, Wiktor Bourée, recently joined the Real Insiders podcast for a candid, unfiltered conversation about ten years of Technis's history — from the original idea to the ambitions shaping the decade ahead.

From a tennis court to 2,100 buildings worldwide

It all started with a very concrete problem: on a tennis court, with no referee, how do you settle a disputed call? That question sparked the idea of a floor that could "see" what happens on it. Ten years later, that idea has grown into a company of 82 employees, over 200 international clients, and more than 2,100 real estate assets instrumented worldwide.

Along the way, a first strategic pivot was necessary: leaving sport behind to focus on real estate. Wiktor explains why that shift happened, and why speed mattered more than holding onto the original idea.

Covid, an unexpected accelerator

Far from being a setback, the Covid period became a catalyst for Technis: "discomfort is where you create the most," Wiktor sums up. That period laid the groundwork for what would become the company's current model — one that has since evolved further with the launch of a new leasing model this fall.

Two acquisitions, one shared logic

Within a single year, Technis integrated two new entities: Videtics in France and E-NNO in Switzerland. Beyond the financial transaction, Wiktor breaks down what, in his view, makes the difference between an acquisition that integrates well and one that doesn't — a question of culture as much as product fit.

"The next real estate crisis will be about energy, not finance"

It's one of the strongest convictions shared in the episode: the next turning point for the real estate industry won't come from financial markets, but from energy. A conviction directly tied to Technis's mission — using data to transform how buildings are operated, eventually to the point of "building a Technis building" designed around data from the ground up.

AI, a turning point for the entire industry

Wiktor also shares his take on AI's arrival in real estate: an accelerator for Technis, but above all a pivotal moment for the whole industry, set to redefine how buildings are designed, operated, and improved.

Going international, and data sovereignty

The episode also touches on the recent partnership with Shopify to distribute Technis across Europe, as well as the challenges of "Swiss made" for export and data sovereignty — topics central to the company's international growth strategy.

2035: the building designed by data

Asked about the future, Wiktor sets a target: building, by 2035, the first building entirely designed from data, from the construction phase onward.

Wiktor's advice for young entrepreneurs

The episode closes with concrete, hard-earned advice: move fast, listen to user feedback without flinching, aim big, and above all — fail fast so you can bounce back even faster.
